All your photos and videos are stored regionally using Digital Ocean droplets. Everything flows through Cloudflare for speed and caching (and always has). This keeps media delivery fast and distributed globally.

Because of this architecture, our datacenter blades don’t handle media storage. Instead, they focus on the demanding work: database operations, real-time messaging, generating your personalised timeline, first-time cache compilation, and coordinating with those Digital Ocean droplets.

This is why the previous hardware (64GB DDR3 and traditional drives) worked well for years. It was lightweight by design. But as Snipesocial grew far beyond initial projections, the workload intensified. Database queries increased. Timeline generation became more complex. Messaging traffic multiplied. The blades were working harder than ever.

Now every blade in the datacenter has ben upgraded with AMD EPYC 7543 processors, 128GB DDR4 memory, and PCIe Gen 5 storage. This generational leap transforms how quickly those critical background tasks execute.

Every DDR3 Blade has replaced with upgraded 128GB of 3200 MHz DDR4 units, effectively doubling memory bandwidth while significantly lowering latency. For the database-heavy operations our datacenter handles, this is a game-changer.

Your timeline pulls data from multiple sources: posts from people you follow, group updates, promoted content, and more. Each timeline is generated on-demand and personalised to you. The move to PCIe Gen 5 industrial-grade storage is the most dramatic change. Remember, our blades don’t store your photos and videos (that’s all on Digital Ocean). Instead, they handle database operations and cache compilation.

Traditional hard drives work by physically moving mechanical parts to find data. When the database needs to retrieve information or compile a cache for the first time, every millisecond of seek time adds up. Our new storage eliminates that delay almost entirely.

Ads on Snipesocial are privacy-respecting by default. They’re based on the content of the page you’re viewing, not algorithmic tracking or personal data harvesting. We don’t believe in buying and selling users as commodities.

You also won’t see forced ad breaks interrupting your scrolling just because you haven’t opted into targeting or paid to avoid ads. That kind of punitive design is unacceptable. Without users, there’s no monetisable content, so trying to extract maximum value from people who simply don’t want to be tracked makes no sense to us.

Verification is free. Our blue badges and verified accounts cost nothing. We think verified users are an advantage to the platform. People know they can trust someone who’s verified. Charging a fee to prove you’re real feels entirely backwards.

We do have paid services. If you’d like to remove 90% of the ads in your feed, you can upgrade from as little as $3 a month. This also lets you boost your page results and unlocks video calling and streaming features.

Video calling isn’t included by default for a simple reason: providing high-quality video calling requires significant bandwidth, which is expensive. We’d rather cover that bandwidth with a small subscription fee and deliver a proper service than half-ass it into lower resolution so ads pay for it and give you a subpar experience.

2. Copyright violations are taken seriously. Uploading copyrighted material without permission is strictly forbidden.

If you’re a copyright owner and believe a post violates your rights, we have fast-track internal systems for removal. The quickest way is to click the arrow at the top right of the post, select “Report”, choose “DMCA takedown”, and include the URL of your original content. This sends an immediate notification to admin.

You can also register your content for free at https://www.dmca.com/badges.aspx. If registered, include your DMCA certificate link in your report to speed things up even more.
